Our schools are by far the largest factor in determining your property tax bill. In order to help make sense of what goes into your property taxes and the impact of our schools upon it, the VRA is presenting Mike Shafer, Chief Financial Officer of the Zionsville Community Schools as the speaker at our April 1st meeting. August 5th Cindy Noe, State Representative, and Jim Buck, State Senator Solving the property tax problem has to start at the state level, but what what will be the impact of the new property tax legislation? How will the schools and town government fare after property taxes are capped? With the township government positions eliminated or combined, will we see sales taxes, income taxes or local option taxes increased? What will be the impact of schools having to submit building proposals to local referendums? On August 5th, the VRA will present State Representative Cindy Noe and our new State Senator Jim Buck to speak on what our legislators have done to address the property tax issue at the state level as well as any other issues they think we should know about.
