We hope you will take a moment to explore the site and learn more about the Village Residents’ Association (VRA) and all that it offers. Through this web site you can view our bi-monthly newsletter, check on meeting dates and program descriptions, keep informed about upcoming community events, learn more about our historic preservation guidelines, find out how to join the association and who to contact for more information, and much, much more. We here in the village of Zionsville live in a rare paradise of small town charm and big town culture. It’s a town where your neighbor is more than just someone who happens to live next door, a town where the word community really means something. The quiet neighborhoods of the Village are filled with charming homes spanning an era from the Civil War to today. Residents take pride in their beautiful gardens and tidy yards. Our historic downtown brick Main Street is lined with diverse shops, galleries and restaurants. Residents and visitors alike take advantage of the many festivals and other events throughout the year. Summer finds the village a busy place. Saturday mornings start bright and early as residents and visitors gather at the open air Farmer’s Market at Main and Hawthorne Streets. You’ll find neighbors chatting as they search for the freshest, juiciest tomatoes at the vegetable stalls. Young and old alike pause a moment to listen to the varying acoustic performances at the Market. In the afternoons, the sounds of cracking bats and cheering fans waft over from the ball field in Lions Park. Evenings are filled with outdoor concerts in the park and dining alfresco along the brick street. Special events like the Independence Day celebration, the Gallery Walk and the Street Dance fill the calendar. There are so many things to see and do and enjoy in this summertime village, but perhaps the most important pursuit is to simply sit back on a creaky old porch swing on your own front porch, just taking pleasure in the beauty of everyday life in Zionsville. Zionsville has been described as a “gem” an “undiscovered treasure” a “jewel.” By any name, the members of the VRA realize that no matter how you describe it – the village of Zionsville is priceless. It is a community that offers a way of life worth preserving. |
