But voting is over!!!!
Mark Walters is going to be our new VRA president next year! I look forward to the positive momentum the VRA is continuing in protecting the village and keeping our community vibrant and friendly.
I pulled some numbers (because, you know, it’s what I do) to see how our village area is doing in the polls. This is important because the overall 2024 election does not have nearly the impact on us as the local elections. The 2023 election for our Mayor and Town Council members is what impacts us and our homes and our village on a day-to-day level, not the national election. These are the people who vote on putting (or not putting) 5 story apartments in the village, how tall buildings can be, moving roads and parking spaces and keeping the village an attractive and marketable union of historic homes and small businesses.
So, for fun, here are the stats I pulled ONLY for the precincts that included our 2 village town council representatives:
(and overall voter turnout for Boone County in 2024 was 65.7%)
Please note that the voter turnout for what impacts us the most was less than half (in most cases) than the vote last month. Remember this and please vote in the next “small” election as these people will impact your village life substantially more than the US elections.
Mark and I are both on the Zionsville Comprehensive Plan Committee Uniquely Zionsville so feel free to contact us also about the larger area plan as it progresses. This is the next important planning document to impact the entirety of Zionsville which your input NOW will help develop.
I look forward to seeing some of you at the Progressive Dinner and have a great New Year!
